Why quality counts
Every building works thanks to kilometres of cables. They play a key role in the seamless day-to-day functioning of a structure, but also enhance safety – never more so than in fires and emergency conditions. Despite their importance, there are still high volumes of cable products for sale that are non-compliant to relevant safety standards.
Even though the cost of cables may represent only a small percentage of the total project cost, people often opt for low-quality alternatives, which cause an increased risk for the building’s inhabitants and can significantly delay installation time.
Since, in most cases, the difference is not visible at first glance, there is an incorrect perception that all cables are the same.
We’re leading the way in cable safety
In order to prove this difference and drive the necessary change in people’s mindset, Prysmian Group as the worldwide leader, has developed the industry's only comprehensive tests system which evaluates cables in terms of safety, performance and usability and which is able to clearly quantify the benefits reached by using Prysmian and Draka cables: the Prysmian performance test.
Analysis from the Prysmian performance test has so far compared more than 80 different brands and more than 10.000 tests has already been executed, analysing five different test categories:
